I thank the commissioner for suggesting this months speaker topic. June, as we know, has come to be known as pride month, and the reason for that stretches back now 50 years. On june 28th, 1969, street demonstrations for lesbian and gay civil rights began at the Stonewall Inn, in greenwich village, in new york city.
