Bryan Riser, a former Dallas police officer, was released from jail on Wednesday after a prosecutor said there was not enough evidence to pursue capital murder charges against him.
A judge ordered that a former Dallas police officer be released from jail on Wednesday after ruling that no probable cause existed to support charges that he had hired a man to kidnap and kill two people.
The decision by the judge, Audrey Faye Moorehead of Dallas County Criminal Court, came after a prosecutor had conceded that he did not have enough evidence to pursue the two counts of capital murder that the Dallas police had announced last month. ....

A 13-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department who was fired from his job and charged with capital murder on an allegation that he ordered hits on two people has been released from jail after the prosecution admitted and the judge found insufficient probable cause.
Bryan Riser walked out of court on Wednesday and briefly but indignantly called out the police department for disrespecting and embarrassing him.
“This department I used to love and respect, they have disrespected me. They’ve embarrassed me and they’ve embarrassed my family all over make believe lies. I was 100% innocent from the get go. I just want to go be with my family,” he said. ....

Dallas Chief of Police Eddie Garcia says he was disappointed to learn the charges were dropped Thursday against a former police officer arrested and accused of capital murder when prosecutors said there wasn t enough evidence to support probable cause in the case.
Garcia reiterated a statement from the department released on Wednesday saying the department respected the judge s decision, but that they had a probable cause affidavit approved by a judge before placing officer Bryan Riser under arrest and that he could not have been arrested without that affidavit.

Former Dallas police officer Bryan Riser was released from jail Wednesday afternoon wearing the same red shirt as he died when he was booked in a month ago.
Riser was released around 4:50 p.m. and several journalists were waiting outside the courts and jail building. ....
