Ex-Cop Bryan Riser Says Dallas Police Took His Livelihood

Investigators alleged Riser ordered the kidnapping and killing of two people in 2017, Albert Douglas and Liza Saenz. According to the DPD, one of three suspects arrested for the Saenz murder implicated Riser in the crime two years later. Three suspects were identified and arrested for kidnapping and killing Saenz and Douglas. They were 28-year-old Kevin Kidd, 31-year-old Emmanuel Kilpatrick and 35-year-old Jermon Simmons. They all face capital murder charges. But Riser’s examining trial, which would determine if the case should go before a grand jury, revealed there were errors in the original probable cause affidavits and that prosecutors didn’t believe there was enough evidence to pursue the case when it was brought up in 2019.

Dallas police chief disappointed murder charges against former officer dropped

Share and speak up for justice, law & order. DALLAS Dallas Chief of Police Eddie Garcia says he was disappointed to learn the charges were dropped Thursday against a former police officer arrested and accused of capital murder when prosecutors said there wasn’t enough evidence to support probable cause in the case. Garcia reiterated a statement from the agency released on Wednesday saying the department respected the judge’s decision, but they had a probable cause affidavit approved by a judge before taking former officer Bryan Riser into custody, NBC 5 reported. Riser had been accused of ordering three men, Kevin Kidd, Emmanuel Kilpatrick and Jermon Simmons, to kill Albert Douglas and Lisa Saenz in 2017, Law Officer reported.

Cellphone data compiled by the FBI, they said, showed that Officer Bryan Riser had been near the site of both killings at the time.
