Our recommendation for Dallas City Council District 12 Incumbent Cara Mendelsohn faces challenger Elva Curl. Incumbent Cara Mendelsohn should be able to fend off a challenge from Elva Curl for Dallas City Council District 12. We tend to agree more than disagree with Mendelsohn on crime, homelessness, education and parks. We think she’s done enough to earn another term. Mendelsohn’s résumé includes infrastructure successes such as seven new traffic lights in her district in Far North Dallas, additional funding for road maintenance and an agreement that prohibits freight trains from running along the Cotton Belt railway through her district, though construction of DART’s Silver Line commuter rail remains a contentious issue. ....
