Bainbridge city manager exits with little fanfare as replacement candidates are announced Nathan Pilling, Kitsap Sun © Contributed photo / City of Bainbridge Island Deputy City Manager Morgan Smith BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – With little fanfare, Morgan Smith left her post as Bainbridge Island’s city manager last week, concluding 10 years of service to the city. The day after Smith’s last day in the office on Thursday, the city announced the names of three candidates to replace her. Those candidates will participate in a series of virtual interviews this week. A recognition of service that typically would have occurred at a City Council meeting wasn’t scheduled at Smith’s request, Mayor Leslie Schneider and Deputy Mayor Joe Deets told the Kitsap Sun. Other than any personal goodbyes, no internal farewell was planned, city spokeswoman Kristen Drew said.
