MedStar Georgetown’s School Health Center at Anacostia High
Michelle Francis walked past a student one morning at Anacostia High School where she works at a clinic run by MedStar Georgetown University Medical Center then looked back to see him stuff a sleeping bag and duffel into the bushes. Suspecting that the student was homeless, she worked with clinic and school staff to connect him and his family to housing.
“As a nurse, we are trained to be observant,” says Francis, 55, who has been an LPN for 11 years. “I might take a blood pressure and notice cutting on the arm. We had another student, her clothes were dirty. She said her parents didn’t have money for detergent.” ....

Bonnie Neumeirer, longtime Over-the-Rhine resident, takes part in a press conference Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021. Cincinnati City Council will hold a public hearing in the Economic Growth and Zoning Committee Wednesday, Jan. 20 to discuss this plot of land at Liberty and Elm Streets in Over-the-Rhine. The nearly five-acres would be used for upscale housing units and retail. Several stakeholders, including Michelle Dillingham, who is running for city council, are opposing the project.
Too many households are pressured by rising rents and housing costs as incomes have dropped or stayed the same. We believe that American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds represent an unprecedented opportunity to invest in Cincinnati’s local economy and quality-of-life through the support of housing stability, especially for low- and moderate-income families. ....

on the other hand, the war on coal is exactly what is needed. war on coal? war on coal ultimately amounts o war on energy and war on american families. and the regulations that president obama announced today are unprecedented, executive actions aimed at punishing industry critical to energy production, particularly the coal industry. these regulations would not pass the united states congress, not the republican house and not even the democratic senate. president obama is trying to accomplish through executive regulations that which he cannot accomplish legislatively or electric toreally. he passed the buck on approving the keystone pipeline. this is a project that would create up to 20,000 jobs and increase domestic energy production, but the project has been delayed on regulatory approval for four years. what strikes me the most about president obama s aggressive actions to say how out of touch he is with the american people. that s why we re here tonight. i remind m ....
