BY CLYDE R NELSON Executive director, merrill area chamber of commerce On Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Celebration and Awards Banquet to honor those businesses that were voted on by its 200 plus members for their contributions to the Merrill Area. This year’s event was held at Northwoods Veterans post with over 150 members, employees, and guests in attendance. On Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, Sasha Everett, Communications Director from the Merrill company “In The Lite Electric,” presented 25 Denny’s gift cards to the Veterans Weekly Cup-of-Coffee group at Denny’s in Rothschild. The company is celebrating their 20th year in business and is completing 20 “Acts of Kindness.” The gift cards are their 16th Act of Kindness and they decided this was one way they could thank area veterans for their service and sacrifice for our country. (KTVZ) After a downbeat, way-too-quiet concert season like no other and never again, many hope work begins this week on a $4 million-plus, multi-phase upgrade of Bend’s popular Les Schwab Amphitheater. The goals of the renovation, according to Monday s announcement, are to enhance accessibility for all guests, attract more talent and performers, and continue to provide economic benefits for the Central Oregon region. The first phase of construction began Monday and is expected to be finished by next June, in time to make way for a typically robust (and 20th anniversary) concert season, if the efforts to curb COVID-19 and resume such fun activities go as planned. ....
