ABUJA-The Federal Government has signed a memorandum of Action (MOA) with the Non Academic staff Union of Universities and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), geared towards ending the strike embarked upon by both unions.
At a meeting with the government on Thursday, the two parties agreed on all the eight-point demand of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the unions, leading to the signing of the MOA. Following the agreement, the unions agreed to consult their members and report back to the government within 48 hours. Addressing a news conference after the meeting, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige described the deliberations as smooth, saying that all the rough edges in the former negotiation were straightened out. ....
Jigawa govt receives N390m from FG to boost healthcare system On By Aliyu Dangida – Dutse Jigawa State Government has received over N390m from the Federal Government through the state Primary Healthcare Agency for the year 2020. The permanent secretary of, ministry of health, Dr. Salisu Mu’azu disclosed this at stakeholders meeting on Basic Health Care Provision Fund Implementation in Dutse. He explained that the money will be distributed to 239 primary Health cares out of 287 in the state for the provision of basic health to less privileged, pregnant women, children below five, and persons with special needs. Ekiti Assembly sacks workers as Labour protests Chairman of the Commission, Honourable Taiwo Olatunbosun stated this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday. Honourable Olatunbosun said the decision was taken in compliance with the report of staff audit undertaken as part of the efforts to reorganize the commission for effective service delivery. Speaking further, Olatunbosun said the audit, which started last year on assumption of office of the present Commission members engaged the services of Auditors over complaints, agitations and petitions from members of staff on allegations of absenteeism, arbitrary promotion and placement of officers above colleagues without regards to scheme of service. ....
