The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Muhammad Adamu, has won the bye-election held on Saturday in Kafin-Hausa constituency to the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
The declaration was made on Saturday at Kafin-Hausa local government collation centre by the returning officer, Ahmed Kutama.
He said Adamu of the APC polled 14,924 votes to defeat his main rival, Garba Tambale of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 8,612 votes.
The seat became vacant following the death of the occupant, Adamu Babban-Bare (APC), in January.
The winner of the Saturday bye-election, Adamu, is a son of the deceased lawmaker. ....

Massive Turnout As Voters Elect Lawmaker In Jigawa

Voters in Kafin Hausa Local Government came out en mass on Saturday to vote for the candidate of their choice in a State House of Assembly by-election.
The lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Adamu Babban Bare (APC) died on January 18.
Speaking to Channels Television, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State Dr Mahmud Isah, described the election process as smooth despite technical challenges.
“I’ve gone round Kafin Hausa South and North, and from what I see there is no much problem. The voting process is smooth and by 2:00 pm we are hoping to stop voting,” Dr. Mahmud said.
He added: “We had a few issues here and there and that is why you see some delay in a few polling units. This is as a result of unavoidable technical issues.” ....

The Kogi State Government, on Monday, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by schools who resumed academic activities across the state.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones, disclosed this while speaking to
Tribune Onlineafter monitoring some schools in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
He said they are in the schools to confirm the level of compliance based on the directive issued last week that schools in Kogi State must resume work with effective from Monday. ....

TH Jigawa State House of Assembly has announced the death of its member, Honourable Adamu Babban Bare, the member representing Kafin-Hausa constituency state constituency.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Aminu Zakari Tsubut who announced the demise of the late lawmaker said “the house received with great shock on the demise of one of our patriotic and selfless members in the person of Hon. Adamu Babban Bare member representing Kafin Hausa constituency.”
Zakari described the death of Babban Bare as a great loss not only to his family and assembly members but also to the entire APC family and Jigawa State in general. ....
