After months of tense community debate, the board voted 4-3 at its Monday meeting in favor of the proposal to rename Lincoln to the Ronald C. Dunlap Elementary School, Home of the Lincoln Lions. Speaking ahead of the board s vote on Monday, Yvette Dunlap urged the board to vote in favor of the proposal, saying her husband s contributions to the district and community are still blessings today. On the ballot for students with on-campus addresses were candidates for State Superintendent, Appleton Area School District School Board Member, Outagamie County City Court Judge Branch 6, Court of Appeals Judge District 3 and the City of Appleton Nonpartisan Redistricting Referendum. Jill Underly won the election for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, the highest education position for Wisconsin. Underly received 58% of the votes over her opponent Deborah Kerr.
