(Picture by Lennox Devonish) Social Share Sugar cane harvesting got off to a slow start yesterday on the first day of reaping. No canes were cut on any of the Government-run plantations and only four private planters – H&G Farms, Drax Hall Plantation, Edgecumbe Plantation and Foursquare – started the process. By 2:30 p.m., these planters delivered a total of 225 tonnes of sugar cane to Portvale sugar factory in Blowers, St James. The DAILY NATION visited two of the locations where cane was being harvested.
