COVID-19 update: NSW records 24 new locally acquired cases with half infectious in community
New South Wales has recorded 24 new coronavirus cases overnight, with seven cases under investigation after 59,941 tests were conducted in the past 24-hour reporting period

Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Thursday said around half of the new infections were in isolation but it is a “cause of concern” the remainder were in the community.
“We can t afford to have people continue to have the virus going about their business,” she said.
The premier said Sydneysiders who are essential workers or are out of the house to buy groceries should “assume you have the virus”.

Dr Chant said on Wednesday the wards where the first worker had worked from June 24 to June 28 have now been quarantined to quell any potential spread.
The wards include the cardiology and a general abdominal surgery ward at Royal North Shore Hospital and Fairfield Hospital s rehabilitation ward.
All three of those hospital departments are no longer admitting any new patients.

Shopping centres, a judo club, inter-state flights and two airports are on urgent COVID alert as the virus continues to cause chaos in major cities across Australia.
Residents in Greater Sydney, Perth and the Peel region, Darwin and Alice Springs and parts of Queensland are subject to stay at home orders as health authorities attempt to control the latest coronavirus outbreaks.

Only 11 of the cases were in isolation for the entire time they were infectious
Case since 8pm found in a student nurse who worked at two Sydney hospitals
Worked at Fairfield Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital while infectious
All of the cases though are linked to previous infections, health officials said
