Early Tuesday morning, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Losey Street for a report of a burglary. A 56-year-old Galesburg man reported his vehicle was burglarized sometime within the last 48 hours. The man said he observed his driver's-side window to be broken and then saw a brick laying on the passenger-side floorboard. The man said his Smith & Wesson .380 firearm was missing from the truck. The gun was fully loaded and inside a holster with an additional full magazine with it. The man said a second firearm in the backseat was not taken. Inside the vehicle, officers also noticed numerous credit cards and an expandable baton were all still inside the vehicle. The firearm was listed as stolen. Police, at the time of the report, were in the process of obtaining any potential area surveillance video.
Galesburg Police Thursday morning, November 3rd, responded to the area of East Losey Street and North Broad for a report of an accident with possible injuries. Upon arrival, officers met with a 32-year-old Galesburg woman who said she, "misjudged the light" and struck the vehicle in front of her. The 55-year-old male driver of the other vehicle complained of neck pain from the accident and he was treated and released. Officers could detect an alcoholic odor coming off the woman, her speech was very slow, and she wouldn't make eye contact with police. The woman admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the morning. A field sobriety test indicated signs of impairment and the woman was placed under arrest. The woman would later provide a breath sample with a .119 BAC. The woman was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with DUI A1, DUI A2, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
Galesburg Police late Sunday afternoon (March 6th) responded to the area of East Losey Street and North Chambers Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle had struck another vehicle from behind and no one was hurt. Police made contact with the 17-year old driver that struck the other vehicle who had a valid Knox County Warrant. The male was stumbling around, slurring his words, and his eyes appeared glassy and watery according to police reports. The teen denied drinking alcohol or smoking cannabis despite a strong cannabis odor emitting from him and the vehicle. After a field sobriety test indicated signs of impairment, the teen was placed under arrest. A small amount of cannabis and an open container of alcohol was found inside the vehicle. A pair of Milan women were arrested Friday, February 6th on numerous drug charges after a traffic stop on East Losey Street in Galesburg. According to police reports, GPD pulled over a vehicle driven by 36-year old Crystal Allen of Milan for “unusual braking patterns” and her license coming back as suspended. Allen was placed under arrest for the license suspension. Police took inventory of the vehicle which lead to the arrest of a passenger: 47-year old Charlotte Strauss also of Milan. GPD discovered several open containers of alcohol, a container of field-tested-positive “crack” cocaine pipes, and a container of cannabis. A male passenger wasn’t charged. The two women were transported to the Knox County Jail. Allen faces Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, and Possession of a Controlled Substance charge.
