PHOENIX - Thousands of people who were tested for COVID-19 in the last week are being asked to get retested because a lab processing test samples got overwhelmed.

Pima County's health director tests positive for COVID-19

Pima Countyâs public-health director Dr. Theresa Cullen tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday due to an apparent virus outbreak among Health Department employees.
A total of 11 department employees at the headquarters building on East Ajo Way have tested positive for the virus in the past week. Anyone who had close contact with the positive employees were advised to isolate for 10 days and get tested. All employees of the building are being offered testing and will be moved to alternative work locations or will work from home while the affected floors are sanitized.
Vice President Mike Pence says he looks forward in the days ahead to receiving a vaccine for COVID-19 and will do so without hesitation. ....

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - At least 11 employees at the Pima Health Department have tested positive for COVID-19, including Dr. Theresa Cullen, who was diagnosed with symptoms on Tuesday.
“She is doing well,” said Dr. Francisco Garcia, the Chief Medical Officer for Pima County. “She got non-specific cold like symptoms, a little hoarseness, some respiratory symptoms.”
Contact tracers are now working to determine where she and the others may have been exposed. ....

Pima County health director tests positive for COVID-19 amid outbreak within department

TUCSON, Ariz. - Dr. Theresa Cullen, the director of the
Pima County Health Department, has tested positive for COVID-19 amid an apparent outbreak within the department.
According to a news release on Dec. 16, Pima County said testing is being offered to all employees who worked at the building on East Ajo Way in Tucson. The staff is also being moved to alternative locations or they will work from home.
Pima County investigators and contact tracers are working to determine the cause of the outbreak, however, officials say a protest that was held at the building on Dec. 10 may make contact tracing difficult. ....
