Die Leihgeberliste ist hochkarätig und reicht vom Guggenheim New York bis zu Moma und Metropolitan, vom Musée Rodin bis zum Centre Pompidou. So wie die Qualität der gezeigten Werke.
Rodin ist mit 33 Skulpturen und neun Zeichnungen vertreten, darunter Hauptwerke wie „Der Kuss“ (1882), „Die drei Schatten“ (vor 1886), „Der Denker“ (1981/82), ferner „Paolo und Francesca in den Wolken“ (1903/04). Einen solchen Überblick über das Werk gab es in der Region noch nicht.

Zu sehen ist der großartige Erneuerer der Skulptur, der seine Figuren vom Sockel holt, Augenblicke, Emotionen quasi einfriert, sich in die Gestaltungskräfte der Natur hineindenkt. „Kunst ist nicht Nachbildung, und nur Narren glauben, dass wir etwas erschaffen können.
