Randomly attacked on her way to school. Tonight, police are searching for the man who followed a 16 yearold in queens, and slashed her in the neck and face. Reporter maurice and christine, right behind me is where that Foreign Exchange student was walking when she was slooshed. Tonight, they are slashed, tonight, they are still looking for that suspect. To have Something Like that happen here is just crazy. Reporter whitestone queens residents uneasy after yearold girl on her way to school just this morning, when police say a man ran up behind her, and without saying a word slashed her face with a box cutter before taking off. The teen left bloody and in shock. Shes slashed in her face twice. Once from ear to her throat, to the middle of her throat and another part of the face as well. Its very disturbing. Biting him. He tried fighting it off. He struck the bear with a hammer but the animal wouldnt let up. Emergency radio calls went out shortly thereafter. We have a gentleman in the cave with a bear. The three children ages 10 to 12 stayed calm outside the cage and called 911. They location. They put their skills to use. They have started a fire possibly for a smoke signal. The scouts put food near the cave to lure the bear out, but that didnt work. The bear stayed in the cave for a substantial amount of time and eventually ran off. Emergency crews finally reached the group an hour and a half after that 911 call went out because of the rocky and steep terrain. They airlifted him to morristown medical center. His injuries are not significant. Thank goodness, especially this time of the year you dont want anything bad to happen. Reporter such a scary situation. Essentially what this is is an automatic override that will enable the train to stop if necessary. Amtrak officials calling it an added layer of safety along the northeast corridor. Over the weekend, the railroad activated its positive train control system on its route between new york city and philadelphia. The system is an automatic speed control system that will automatically apply brakes when a train goes over the speed limit. Last may eight people were killed and 200 injured when an amtrak train bound for penn station derailed in philadelphia traveling 106 Miles Per Hour, more than double the speed limit. After the derailment Congress Mandated that all have the system in place by the end of this year. Congress ended up extending the commuter railroads complained that logistical challenges would make it difficult to implement the technology quickly. When it flipped it spilled all the garbage over park avenue. That is the b. Q. E. Above us. This is park avenue over there. You can see the mess and all that garbage. Lets go to the maps and pinpoint where this is. Tillery street ramp to the northbound side of the b. Q. E. Thats where the garbage spill occurred. The garbage spilled on to park avenue below the b. Q. E. Sanitation will get out there and clean this up. You have delays both directions as a result of that. Then the northeast b. Q. E. Ramp to the Brooklyn Bridge just about reopening with the construction being cleared at the Brooklyn Bridge. M
