[email protected] A 46-year-old city man received a 25 year prison sentence for his part in a drug trafficking resulting in a rash of heroin overdoses in 2017. Raymond Howard recently was sentenced to 300 months’ imprisonment followed by a four-year term of supervised release by U.S. Middle District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann. According to Acting U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Howard was found guilty after a five-day jury trial in October 2020 to conspiring to distribute heroin and a mixture of heroin and carfentanil. During a three-day period in June 2017, there was a rash of drug overdoses in the city and region. ....

U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann Friday cited the strain the rash of overdoses put on first responders and police when he sentenced Raymond Howard, 46, of Williamsport. The city of Williamsport was devastated by the overdoses caused by drugs he supplied, the judge said. There were three confirmed drug deaths in late June 2017 but none of four suspects charged in the conspiracy was charged in the deaths. ....
Montpelier City Council held its regular meeting on April 7. Ted Slivinski and Quinn Pope were not present. The Mayor stated that Leland Keateâs Machine Shopâs agenda item was canceled as he has found a building for his business. The Council completed the regular meeting business. The Mayor stated that the Budget Public Hearing date needs to be set. It is usually the second meeting in August. The City needs to adopt the current Idaho Building code. There have been some changes to the code, but not many. Davidson reviewed the changes with the Council. The Council then read Ordinance 668. The Council will need to read this two more times as the reading was not waived in the Ordinance. It will be denied or passed at the first May Council meeting. ....
