Zambo City all set for 4th nat'l vax days

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city health office is all set for the conduct of the National Vaccination Days 4 (NVD4) aimed at accelerating the inoculation of unvaccinated people. Dubbed as "Bayanihan, Bakunahan," the NVD4 against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is set to kick off from March 10 to 12. Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Wednesday they are targeting to vaccinate 4,402 individuals for their second dose and 11,011 for their booster shots. "Go to the vaccination center to be vaccinated as well as vaccine boosters for added protection against Covid-19," Miravite said. She said vaccination centers will be opened in all villages as well as other designated centers like shopping malls. She noted that all eligible population categories can be vaccinated during the three-day NVD4. Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) said the conduct of the NVD4 is aimed to vaccinate more senior citizens in areas where vaccine coverage remains low. (PNA) }

Covid-19 active cases in Zambo City continue to drop

Zamboanga City Health Office (File photo) ZAMBOANGA CITY - Active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here have been declining for the past 30 days, the city health office reported Tuesday. Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said active cases dropped by as much as 1,885 from 1,961 on February 7 to only 76 cases as of March 7. Miravite said 74 or 97.36 percent of the active cases were acquired through community transmission; one authorized person outside residence; and one from a police precinct-level detainee. The current positivity rate of the city is 12.5 percent or only 12 people out of the 100 tested individuals were found to have been infected with Covid-19. "The positivity rate is decreasing, which means that the transmission of the virus is also decreasing," Miravite said.
