UCSF treats first instance of a man developing blood clot after J&J vaccine Amy Graff

UCSF reported Sunday it s treating a patient who was admitted to the hospital with a rare blood clot 13 days after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
This is the first male patient to develop the condition known as vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) in the country, UCSF said in a statement.
More than 7 million doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered in the United States and before this instance in a male patient, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had reported this rare condition in 15 individuals, all women.
