Concerns over Swanage traveller site plans in Dorset Local Plan

RESIDENTS have expressed concerns about proposals for a traveller site in Swanage.
The site is outlined within the Dorset Council Local Plan, which is essentially a blueprint for preferred development within the county until 2038.
This local plan, currently under consultation until March 15, has already been criticised as inadequate by the Dorset branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), who also say residents will not have time to read the 2,000 pages it contains before the March deadline.
As well as setting out preferred sites for almost 30,500 new homes to be built, the Dorset Council Local Plan outlines potential infrastructure projects, retail and employment sites. ....

£120M housing development in Weymouth could begin construction this year

500 NEW homes for Weymouth have taken a step closer to being built - and construction could start later this year.
The £120m new housing scheme, to be built on land near Littlemoor Road, will feature a new primary school, a care home, local centre, commercial and employment space and will benefit from the creation of large areas of public open space. Of the 500 homes at the proposed development, 225 of these would be classed as affordable homes.
Lovell Southern, part of the £3 billion Morgan Sindall Group, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Abri, one of the south’s largest housing providers, to build the 500 homes as an urban extension on the outskirts of Weymouth. ....

The speed and efficiency of our vaccine rollout is a source of national pride.
The Government has met its 15th February target of vaccinating the four highest priority groups, with over 15.5 million people across the UK having received their first dose as of Monday.
This is a tremendous success and I pay tribute to the NHS staff, GPs, scientists, military personnel, volunteers, and all others involved here in Dorset.
