This New Franchise Model Wants to Deliver on the Promises Franchising Represents


In addition to its healthy meal offerings, Everytable is known for its variable pricing the chain’s prices are tied to the median income of the neighborhood around each location, with meal prices ranging from $4 in low-income neighborhoods to $9.75 in wealthier ones. Right now, as the social equity franchising program director at Everytable, Bryce Fluellen is focusing on building a pipeline of candidates for those new franchise ownership positions.
The program has one candidate already in training Dorcia Whitebrake, currently a general manager at an Everytable location. Fluellen expects to recruit more candidates from within Everytable’s existing ranks. He’s also forming partnerships with community-based organizations around Los Angeles that already have entrepreneurship training or assistance programs, including one group he says is tied into local community colleges. ....

Everytable was on the cusp of the subscription food model in 2016 when it launched using a commissary kitchen model to serve urban food deserts in Los Angeles. It was also one of the first brands to base its menu prices on the neighborhoods in which it serves.
Our variable pricing model is based on the average income of a specific neighborhood, CEO CEO Sam Polk said in an interview with FastCasual. Many communities we serve are food deserts with little or no access to nutritious food. By pricing our meals according to the neighborhood, our guests don t have to travel outside of their neighborhood to avoid cheap and unhealthy fast food. ....

Long Beach Restaurant Defies COVID-19 Rules as Hospitals Ration Care


Long Beach restaurant Restauration has come under continued fire in recent weeks for refusing to shut down its on-site dining. While the restaurant is not allowing diners to eat inside as some like La Scala in Beverly Hills were offering recently owner Dana Tanner is still openly seating people on Restauration’s patio, in direct defiance of regional public health orders put out by state officials. Long Beach also has its own public health department, which has similarly banned all on-site dining within city limits. Tanner says she is undeterred, and will continue to seat those who ask, in part to keep her employees from being laid off. “I’m not going to let them go down,” she recently told the Long Beach Post, adding: “I just wish more restaurants would join us in staying open.” ....
