you are live in the cnn newsroom. i m jim acosta in new york. it s here 6:00 here in the big apple, 3:00 p.m. in california. what s likely to be a long, sleepless night and soggy weekend lying ahead for much of monterey county. the county is the epicenter of catastrophic flooding in that state. these are new images of the levee that failed around midnight local time. mandatory evacuations are now under way in parts of the that county. a string of deadly storms has unleashed massive flooding across the central and northern portions of the state. at least two people have died in this most recent storm. this week s atmospheric river is the tenth to hit the state this winter. it s dropped more than a foot of rain in some areas and several feet of snow in others. let s begin in monterey county, the site of that levee breach. cnn s mike valerio is there. mike, the state of that breach, could this continue to dump more flooding into that area? what can you tell us? reporte ....

hello, and thank you for joining me this sunday. i m fredricka whitfield. and we begin this hour with the west coast bracing for another round of dangerous downpours. the 11th atmospheric river so far this season is expected to hit in the coming hours. forecasters are predicting this latest storm to bring up to 6 inches of rain for parts of northern and central california. areas already facing severe flooding. more than 15 million people remain under flood watches from california to nevada and evacuation orders are already in place for parts of monterey county after a levee brief flooded homes. sheriffs are going door-to-door to help as rivers of waters rush through the communities. mike is in hard-hit monterey county. it looks like you re standing in a lake. but then, at the same time, it looks like that is like a downtown area? reporter: yeah, fredricka, good morning. this is in monterey county, california and we thought would this water recede, but this water has b ....

decision, news of that broke and the u.s. and all around the world. we ve seen thousands of demonstrators pass through this area outside the supreme court today. you know, when we were here first earlier this morning, there were groups from both sides of this debate and anti abortion activists were here celebrating as we reached into the evening, it was pretty much exclusively hundreds, possibly thousands of proabortion choice activists. the crowd really has dwindled out now. speakers just finished talking but say come back tomorrow. they want people back here tomorrow. what we did see here today, don, is a huge security presence across washington d.c. i will say that it was very, very different to the security presence we saw in washington d.c. on the morning of january 6th. there was police all over the city. some demonstrators also this evening marched from s.c.o.t.u.s. through washington and came back. so we are likely to see more demonstrations in the coming days. ....
