File photo TRIADELPHIA The Ohio County Development Authority is expected to receive this week a proposed contract for Greg Stewart to manage The Highlands development. Ohio County Commissioner Don Nickerson said a seven-member committee charged with negotiating the contract has met, and will present its recommendations to the full OCDA board soon, probably this week. “We’re trying to get a meeting scheduled for Thursday,” he said. A time and date hasn’t yet been announced. Nickerson could not reveal any details about the contract to be presented to the board. “As nothing is final until adopted by the OCDA board, we have decided not to release the committee recommendation until presented to the board,” he said. ....
Staff Writer WHEELING Five candidates are in the running to be Ohio County’s next administrator and among them are Wheeling’s fire chief, a current county employee, and three attorneys. Applicants had until Feb. 15 to submit their resumes to the County Commission Office. The office initially received six applications, but one candidate withdrew their interest after learning names of applicants would be released, according to Ohio County Solicitor Donald Tennant. Commissioners will now interview for the job Wheeling Fire Chief Larry Helms, current Ohio County Development Authority project director Randy Russell, and attorneys Ronald Musser of Wheeling, Owen Sullivan of Pittsburgh and Chris Ferro of Charleston. ....
Staff Writer WHEELING The Ohio County Board of Education’s president is hoping for a quick resolution to contract negotiations with the Ohio County Commission for prevention resource officers in many of their schools. That contract, which puts Ohio County sheriff’s deputies in those schools, has carried with it a price tag of more than $700,000 annually, and district officials want to make alterations. Board President David Croft said Wednesday that the board and the county government continue to work through the details of a new contract, which would replace one that had expired in July 2020. Croft and County Solicitor Donald Tennant are handling the negotiations between the sides. ....
