The Dallas County Elections Administrator is looking into why several polling locations were closed for hours on election day, especially in predominately minority and low-income communities.
DALLAS - The Dallas County Elections Administrator is looking into why several polling locations were closed for hours on election day, especially in predominately minority and low-income communities.
County elections officials confirmed multiple closures that totaled more than 13 hours of lost voting time.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson bet the second half of his first four-year term on flipping two City Council seats held by members with whom he has battled during the last year.
He appeared to have lost that gambit.
Neither candidate he endorsed Yolanda Faye Williams in District 5 and Donald Parish Jr. in District 7 dealt a fatal blow to incumbents Jaime Resendez and Adam Bazaldua, according to unofficial results.
Resendez staved off a runoff against Terry Perkins, a former pastor at Abundant Grace Church. And in District 7, Bazaldua will face former council member Kevin Felder, not Parish. ....

Texas Mayoral Races, Austin Homeless Measure Among Key Issues On Saturday Ballots

Austin voters reinstated a ban on public homeless encampments, according to The Austin American-Statesman. The paper reported that 57% of voters voted in favor of reinstating the ban, and 42% voted against it. Proposition B on that city’s ballot will also criminalize panhandling at certain places and during certain times.
Austin’s City Council decided to lift the ban on public encampments in certain areas in 2019, arguing that the policy had led to citations for people experiencing homelessness that hurt their ability to find housing. The move was quickly criticized by Gov. Greg Abbott, who promised to take action against Austin. ....
