Politics flowed freely through my dad’s veins. In one of my earliest memories with him, we participated in a July Fourth parade in Buffalo, Minnesota. I rode with him in a convertible while he called “vote for Adlai Stevenson” through a megaphone. He began on the precinct level and worked his way up. By the time I was 20 years old, he was nationally known. Dad’s determination to right wrongs through his political activism indelibly shaped my life. 
Career-wise Dad excelled in sales and eventually became the vice president of a family-owned company. In his spare time, he let no grass grow under his feet with his passion for politics.  ....

After Park Falls Mill Shuttered Again, Cooperative Group Seeks to Buy

The reopening of the Park Falls paper mill lasted just a matter of months before another shutdown and more layoffs this spring.
Now, the mill has fallen into receivership once again, but one group has an innovative plan to bring it back.
The former Flambeau River Papers in Park Falls reopened in September as Park Falls Pulp and Paper.

Last September, the scene was joyful in Park Falls when the century-old paper mill went back online after a year of being idle. An out-of-state ownership group led by Yong Liu had bought the mill, promising to bring back many of the 300 workers that had been laid off since 2017. ....

April 7, 2011: Tanning businesses may experience a slow burn if the state Senate passes its bill saying that no one under age 18 can use a tanning bed. Most local tanning salons, however, have a loophole for the pending bill: spray tanning. And at least one local salon owner said he is not concerned about the pending bill because the overwhelming majority of his clients are over 18.

April 7, 1996: An old farmhouse that was once the heart of Credo Foundation’s residential treatment program for male substance abusers has become a new home for females struggling to overcome drug addictions. Credo officials decided last month to place male and female clients in separate buildings on the Jenkins Road farm in Pamelia. The female clients had been staying in the same building as the men — a residential treatment facility that opened in 1992 on the 129-acre farm. ....
