Before these stabbings started, he was separated from the university. that s what the university said. they said it was for academic reasons, but didn t really give an explanation as to why this happened, and he was a student, a member of the community, and what s interesting here is that the same members of this community, they are the ones that led police to dominguez. about 15 people on wednesday called police to say that they spotted someone that looked like the suspect in this case. one of those callers following dominguez to the point where authorities were able to find his exact location. when they found him they looked in his backpack and he had a large knife. initially he was arrested for having this knife on him. he was taken in and investigators actually sat down and questioned him for hours. they say he was a very reserved person, and unfortunately authorities saying they do not have a motive here as to why exactly he was doing this. what they do say they have is ....

That same community that essentially led police to dominguez. 15 people, at least, called on wednesday saying they had spotted someone that matched the description of the suspect in this case, and at least one of these callers followed dominguez to the point where authorities were able to get to that exact location. once they got there, authorities found a large knife in his backpack, arrested him for that to begin with. and authorities saying they spent hours trying to interview him. they described him as someone who was very reserved and, unfortunately, police say they do not have a motive. what they do have, though, according to authorities, is evidence linking him to the crime, and evidence that they say suggests that a lot of these victims also fought back. again, two people died as a result of these stabbings. one was severely injured and she is now speaking out from her hospital bed about what she went ....

On edge. cnn national correspondent camila bernal joining me now with more on this. so what can you tell us about the charges and where the investigation goes from here? reporter: hey, fred. these are very serious charges, and carlos dominguez told a judge that, yes, he understood his charges during the arraignment when he was very quiet, just looking str straight ahead and only answering yes to the judge for a couple of questions. what is interesting is that the community was the one that led police to dominguez. we know that on wednesday, about 15 different people called police, saying, look, we see someone who looks or may be the suspect in this case. one of those callers even followed him to the exact spot where police were able to arrest him. initially they went through his backpack and found a large knife, so that s what he was arrested for, and police took him in for questioning. they say they spent hours trying ....
