Cases, hospitalizations fall while workplace outbreaks increase COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations declined last week, for the second week in a row, the Oregon Health Authority’s weekly COVID-19 report shows. OHA reported 4,896 new cases of COVID-19 between May 3 and May 9. That’s a 12% decrease from the previous week. New COVID-19 related hospitalizations also fell, from 272 to 245. COVID-19 related deaths, however, nearly doubled, from 16 to 31. There were 111,121 COVID-19 tests performed during the week. Of those, 6.1% were positive, down from 6.8% the previous week. ....

Oregon reports 928 cases, one death The Oregon Health Authority has reported 928 new cases of COVID-19. It has reported one new death, an 88-year-old man from Josephine County who tested positive April 9 and died April 27 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center. He had underlying conditions. That brings the state’s cumulative case count to 183,830, and the death toll to 2,491. Marion County reported 81 new cases, while Polk County reported 14.
