Soundararajan, a resident who lives near the Doddakallasandra lake, said that due to the lack of surveillance by security guards, all kinds of such activities happen even in broad daylight.
As per the report filed with the help of inputs from 394 respondents, 46% of respondents lived within less than a 1-km radius of the lake, 43% lived within the neighbourhood, 9% lived further than 1 km, and 2% were not Bengaluru residents.
On the other hand, the birds which gather in the lake may begin to feel threatened by entry of stray animals such as dogs and cattle. “The stray dogs may not end up killing the birds but the birds will feel threatened enough to not visit the lake again. If the problem is not fixed soon, all the birds will be driven out of the lake. The number of birds in the city has already witnessed a significant fall,” he explained.
