Violent crime in Little Rock is on a gradual but consistent decline, Mayor Frank Scott Jr. said at a Wednesday news conference, sharing data that showed violent crime in the city has been at levels lower than last year for the past six weeks.
Little Rock's mayor on Wednesday named more than a dozen appointees, ranging from members of city government and police to pastors, judges and activists, to a council designed to come up with creative programs meant to prevent crime.
In March, law enforcement in Pulaski County investigated the deaths of 10 people as homicides, with North Little Rock Police reporting five homicides, Little Rock police four and Jacksonville police one.
