Government springs for Kaipara Council water upgrades The reservoir on Griffin Road in Maungaturoto – currently just a couple of concrete tanks. Kaipara District Council is undertaking several water infrastructure projects this year, including replacement of Maungaturoto’s water main pipes as part of a $6 million programme. The works are able to take place thanks to partial funding from the Government’s Three Waters Reform programme. The KDC unlocked those funds when it agreed to a memorandum of understanding to investigate amalgamation of its assets into a centralised body. This month, one kilometre of damaged water mains on Hurndall Street in Maungaturoto will be replaced, as well as three kilometres of raw water mains that feed the town’s water treatment plant. ....
Wednesday, 19 May 2021, 10:51 am Nine infrastructure renewal projects are being rolled out across Kaipara District this year. The work has been funded as part of the Three Waters Reform process, after Kaipara District Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in August 2020. The Government-led programme has provided incentives for Councils to partner in the first stages of the Reform Programme. Councils are able to opt out of discussions at any future stage. The first project – renewal of approx. 2,500m of watermain renewals in Haimona Street and Pirika Street, Dargaville – is nearing completion now. Work is also starting on watermain renewals in Ruawai this week (from Monday 17 May). Our team ....

The Northland Chamber of Commerce predicted hundreds of staff would not come into work today after the woman visited about 30 locations across lower Northland and north Auckland. The news that the positive case visited the South Head General Store on the south Kaipara Peninsula has owner Aaron Watson reeling. He said he only opened the business late last month and he was gutted about what has happened. Absolutely devastated, we don t know what to do, we re shattered, absolutely shattered. ....
