Hidden behind the numbers of the dead in India’s second wave of coronavirus are the survivors. Thousands of them are children, who have suddenly lost one or both parents and live now in the grip of sadness, uncertainty and fear. A child, who has lost his/her parent, can’t be simply adopted or taken away by an NGO or a person. The individual, who plans to adopt an orphaned child, must follow a clear process in place under the Juvenile Justice Act.
