Hidden behind the numbers of the dead in India’s second wave of coronavirus are the survivors. Thousands of them are children, who have suddenly lost one or both parents and live now in the grip of sadness, uncertainty and fear. Over 9,300 children orphaned, abandoned or lost a parent to COVID-19: NCPCR tells Supreme Court

NCPCR told the SC on June 1 that there are 9,346 children, who have been abandoned, orphaned or lost a parent to COVID.
Maharashtra govt said that 4,451 children have lost one of their parents due to the pandemic.
NCPCR said states leading the chart like UP has 2,110 such children, Bihar (1,327), Kerala (952) and MP (712).
New Delhi: The National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that there are 9,346 children, who have been abandoned, orphaned or lost a parent to the COVID-19 pandemic as per the data submitted to it by different states till May 29.
The NCPCR, in its affidavit filed through advocate Swarupama Chaturvedi, said states leading the chart like Uttar Pradesh has 2,110 such children, Bihar (1,327), Kerala (952) and Madhya Pradesh (712). ....
