now. it is turning out to be an unusual news day which may be in part a function of the holiday i don t think so i think it is just turning out to be an unusual news day. this remarkable search and rescue operation is still underway about 370 miles off the coast of new foundland in the north atlantic a sub marine is an autonomous submersible, as opposed to a sub marine, goes under the water but it is not autonomous it has to use a ship or a surface platform as a kind of home base to which it is linked. the vehicle that has been lost, that they are lack for right now, is a submersible. the ship from which it launched lost contact with it yesterday about 1:45 after it started a dive the dive was supposed to be about two and a half hours down. three hours on the bottom of the ocean, and then another two and a half hours back. it was supposed to be about eight hours beneath the waves. about 1:45 into that mission, they reportedly lost communication. on the submersible, ther ....
