Last year Los Alamos County surveyed residents on how they thought local government is doing. The County recently released the survey results and overall, residents gave the County strong marks.
The survey is conducted biannually, Los Alamos County Public Information Officer Julie Habiger said. The 2020 survey had about 600 participants, who were selected through randomized address generation.
The participants were sent postcards and letters and encouraged to either take the survey online or fill out the paper form and mail it back in. The results were compared with other municipalities to see how Los Alamos measures up. ....

County Council Discusses Racial Equity And Inclusion

Los Alamos County Councilor Katrina Martin provided an update on discussions with community organizations regarding diversity, equity and inclusion along with initial recommendations for some next steps, during the Tuesday night council meeting held via zoom.
Recommendations include:
Implement implicit bias training for County staff and elected officials contract a trainer with complementary outside perspective;
Review the Community Equity and Inclusion Survey (performed in the fall of 2020) to identify potential areas for future action;
Direct the County Manager to discuss best practices for diversity and inclusion in recruitment and hiring with new human resources manager; ....
