If the sixties laid the foundations and the eighties consolidated EMESA’s endeavours to place inland sailing on a firm footing, the new millennium saw it scale new heights in terms of facilities and infrastructure.
The quality of its manpower too touched world standards, not far behind some of its sailors who shone in international competition.
Although the EME Sailing Association (EMESA) has off-site centres in Chennai, Bhopal, Mumbai and Goa, the jewel in its crown should be Secunderabad and not without reason. A recent innovation here is a metallic Mexican style stack that can house 42 boats, hulls, sails et al. ....

Golden jubilee celebrations of the Telangana State Residential School (TSRS), Sarvail, in combined Nalongda district kicked off with a logo launch by Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy, an alumnus of the school, and NIT-Warangal director N.V. Ramana Rao here on Sunday.
Prominent alumni who participated in the inaugural included retired IAS officer Dinakar Babu and Joint Transport Commissioner C. Ramesh among others. COVID-19 ensured a low-key start to celebrations, which would continue year-long. ....

Udupi, Jan 28: Vaccination against coronavirus is underway across the nation, however, Anganwadi workers have refused to get vaccinated. Anganwadi workers are reluctant to get the vaccine dose. Such kinds of situations can impact the mindset of the common people as they look up to these Anganwadi health workers. Udupi, Jan 27: In one voice, fishermen and locals stressed that the proposed marina beach project at Padukere, Malpe, will not be allowed to be executed. Their opposition for the project came during their face-to-face discussions with local MLA K Raghupati Bhat, here on Tuesday January 26.
The fishermen had earlier expressed their opinion that they are against the proposed marina beach project at Padukere. During the discussions with the legislator on Tuesday, efforts made by Bhat to convince the people to support the project went in vain. Prakash Malpe, who led the deliberations, placed before the meeting a resolution containing nine points. ....

Udupi, Jan 19: Chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa laid foundation for long awaited Hejmady Kodi harbour project, here on Tuesday January 19.
The CM, speaking on the occasion said, “This project is the most demanded by locals and fishermen as there are no berth and supporting facilities required for fisheries activities. Now the government has responded to their grievances. In the budget speech for the year 2020-21, I had announced that a fishing harbour will be constructed at Hejmady Kodi in Udupi district. In this regard, local representatives and fishermen unions have demanded the construction of a new harbour. ....
