CLEMSON, S.C. Former Clemson All-American Lucas Glover will play in his ninth Masters golf tournament this week at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Glover will tee off on Thursday at 11:29 a.m. and will be in a group with Erik van Rooyen of South Africa and Cameron Davis of Australia. The same group will tee off at 8:22 a.m. on Friday.This will be Glover’s ninth Masters and his 45th Major Championship, more than any other former Clemson golfer. He is the only former Clemson golfer to win a Major as he won the 2009 US Open at Bethpage Black in New York. It is one of his seven top 20 finishes at Major championships.Glover’s best finish at the Masters is a 20th place in 2007 when he shot a 298. His best round was a 69 in the second round of the 2014 Masters. He went on to finish 42nd with a 296 total. Overall, Glover has made the cut four times, 2007 (20th), 2010 (36th), 2013 (49th) and 2014 (42nd).So far this year, Glover has made 10 of 13 cuts on the PGA Tour, incl ....
Glover Wins John Deere Classic CLEMSON, S.C. Former Clemson All-American Lucas Glover fired a seven-under-par 64 on Sunday to jump over 11 golfers and win the 50th John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. It was Glover’s fourth career win on the PGA Tour, his first since 2011. Glover was in 12th place, four shots behind Sebastian Munoz entering the final round on the par 71 course. But, his final round 64 was good enough for a two-shot win over Ryan Moore and Kevin Na. Glover had rounds of 68-63-70-64 for a 265 total, 19-under-par. Glover’s iron game was strong all week and he led the tournament in strokes gained tee to green. He made eight birdies on Sunday and all eight were on putts of inside 15 feet, including three that were five feet or less. He made birdie’s on five of his last seven holes. ....
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) For Mark Russell and Slugger White, getting into the business as a PGA Tour rules official was a lot easier decision than getting out. With some 80 years of experience between them Sam Snead was still playing the occasional tournament when they started Russell and White are moving toward retirement from their official titles of vice president of competitions. Russell says he will stay on as a consultant during the transition. White plans to work about 10 or so events next year, making himself available if the need arises. White played on the PGA Tour for parts of four years in the late 1970s, before the all-exempt tour began, only twice cracking the top 150 on the money list. ....
