Okoboji Foundation Awards $50,000 To Francis Sites Wetland Project December 23, 2020 12:28 pm clipart.com Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Francis Sites Wetland Project in Spirit Lake is getting ever closer to its fundraising goal to complete the second phase of the work after recently receiving fifty thousand dollars from the Okoboji Foundation. The project which has been in the works since 2012 is a joint water quality and flood reduction effort by the City of Spirit Lake and Dickinson County to ultimately reduce sediment and phosphorus loads by up to 79 percent and prevent flooding over the county-owned road. Other partners for the project include the Dickinson County Clean Water Alliance , Iowa DNR and the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission.
