Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– 2020 was a busy year for food pantries and similar organizations as many people were forced to use food services that never have before.
Dickinson County Hunger Coalition Director Angela Kofoot told the Board of Supervisors in her annual report the increase in clients has not only limited how far funding can go, but also taken some effects on the organization’s infrastructure.
Kofoot talked about a possible need for a county-wide effort to continue getting help to any many people as possible.
Kofoot adds those wanting to help the local food pantries can have a bigger impact by giving in a monetary form since the Hunger Coalition is able to buy food in bulk at a much cheaper rate through the state allowing services to go to more people.
