you. dana: the supreme court now just moments away from handing down new rulings as we await decisions on several high-profile cases and welcome to a new hour of america s newsroom, i m dana perino and bill hemmer has the day off. great to be with you. aishah: i m aishah hosni. it is rare for the supreme court to issue decisions three days in a row but with 14 cases remaining on the docket opinions are set to be released today, tomorrow, and friday. and we actually won t know until tomorrow if more days might be added as well next week. here are some of the big cases we re waiting for. dana: everything from presidential immunity that could shape the future of u.s. politics to abortion and social media censorship. we have the legal team standing by and thank goodness for that. andy mccarthy and jonathan turley, waiting outside the court chief legal correspondent shannon bream. good morning, here we go. 14 cases left. everybody has immunity at the top of their l ....
Which is facing outward revolt. boldfaced insurrection among the party s own rankin file. does this change national perception at all? is this a smoke screen for what s happening on dhs? it was a way to poke a finger in the president s eye politically speaking after he took the executive action on immigration that the republicans didn t like and the party has been in disarray. i think this will be the story for the next couple days. by friday republican disarray on the dhs bill will be back at the top of the headlines, so i think this is going to lead to this long-run notion that what republicans are really about is sticking it to obama rather than having reasonable policy discussions about some rather vexing issues that face us at home and abroad. we have a lot of ideas about ....
Complicated than that. first, the gop and the senate seems like they re very approachable to passing a dhs bill. it s the ideological wing of the republican party on the house of representatives side that is causing speaker boehner some heartburn here. he s in a bit of a pickle here because apparently the you know, this whole whether or not democrats can vote for this republican bill, it seems like that can happen if in fact it s a clean bill. republicans on the house side do not want a clean bill. that s where speaker boehner is in a bit of a bind here. so the question becomes is can he get some of those ideological hard-right folks of his caucus to be able to vote for a bill that perhaps has a little bit of less language than they want? the answer right now seems to be no. if that s the case his speakership is very much in jeopardy jeopardy. so i don t know. i really don t know. okay. what do you think the president should be doing in this fight? i mean he held the town hall. it ....
At the same time, we ve got senate democrats led by harry reid, they don t want to take that bill from mcconnell until they know what speaker boehner will do. what mcconnell offered is a two step approach. fund the department through the fiscal year that takes us to october 1st. that makes most people happy. then a second vote which would address concerns of conservatives that say the president has overreached, but it is not a full roll back like we saw in the house bill. it is a more narrow focus on just deportations. it would leave dreamers intact rules related to them. that s one of the changes that would be more appealing to some of the more mainstream republicans in the senate who say let s get this done. but the question is what can house speaker john boehner do? he is in a meeting with his conference now. the most vocal members don t want to see him give an inch to the senate because even though senate majority leader of last ....
Year harry reid had so much power, now in the minority harry reid still seems to be calling some of the shots, trying to make the speaker promise he can deliver. that s something we have watched over time jose difficult for the speaker to be able to promise what his conference will do. that s why his remarks coming up are so important. jose? we will be going live to them when they do happen. amanda, does the fact that mcconnell is willing to put up a clean bill represent a victory for the white house? i don t think it is time for the white house to take a victory lap quite yet. as kelly outlined though senator mcconnell came out and said he is willing to issue a clean bill that doesn t necessarily mean democrats or even congressional republicans for that matter will take up the deal. politically, this could be damaging for the republican party. you know after the terror attacks abroad after growing concerns with isis the idea of ....
