National April 22, 2021 ISLAMABAD: PPP’s Parliamentary Leader in the Senate Sherry Rehman said the petrol crisis inquiry report has exposed PTI government’s criminal negligence. “The Inquiry Commission’s report on the 2020 petrol crisis is a damning charge sheet against the government and exposes ‘Tabahi Sarkar’s’ criminal negligence which paved the way for this crisis,” she said Wednesday while commenting on the 2020 petrol crisis. Sherry said from the illegal appointment of DG Oil to non-storage of oil for 20 days, billions of rupees have been looted by the oil mafias. “How is it even possible that Ogra did not ensure that the companies are storing oil for 20 days. According to details, the report of the Inquiry Commission on petrol crisis in June 2020 said that Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had neglected its basic responsibilities, allowing an artificial petrol crisis to be created. The commission blamed OGRA, the petroleum division and oil marketing companies for the petrol crisis, saying that hoarding had created a petrol crisis in the country and turned an opportunity amid reduced global prices into a crisis. ....
Top Story April 2, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet rejected resumption of trade with India as suggested by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), reiterating the government’s stated position that India should first revert to the August 5, 2019 position and move towards resolution of the Kashmir issue. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said this while addressing a press conference here on Thursday, after attending the federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan through the video link. The minister emphasized that resumption of trade with India is not possible without the resolution of the core dispute of Kashmir. “We favour trade with New Delhi, but India should first return to the pre August 5 position. Such decisions (trade resumption) will be gauged vis-à-vis the yardstick set in this context by the government,” he said.
