A Catholic priest who preached against the Democratic Party’s progressive policies and held Masses in defiance of coronavirus restrictions has been asked to step down by his bishop.
A fund set up to defend the priest with a goal of $20,000 raised $209,025
as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“What really is at play here, dear family, is that other shepherds are offended that I simply state the fact that they have abandoned their sheep in a time of need,” Fr. Altman said. “As you’ve heard me say so many times, if this alleged virus was allegedly a fraction as dangerous as they said it was, all the more reason to keep our churches open and get you the sacraments so you stay in a state of grace.”

Catholic archbishops will discuss denying President Joe Biden Communion for his abortion stances in June, but until then, most of them are staying quiet on the issue.
The Daily Caller News Foundation asked all U.S. archbishops whether they would deny the president Communion. Most did not respond, despite repeated requests for comment, and five archbishops declined to comment on the matter.
Archbishops Salvatore Cordileone and Samuel Aquila said that they would first engage in conversations with a high profile individual who persisted in publicly supporting abortion, and then ultimately ask the individual to refrain from Communion.

The Archdiocese of Washington addressed $2 million given to retired Cardinal Donald Wuerl for “ministry activities” in a Thursday statement.
The 80-year-old cardinal resigned from his position in October 2018 after evidence of complicity in sexual abuse cover-ups in Pennsylvania.
The Daily Caller News Foundation repeatedly asked the Archdiocese of Washington on Wednesday and Thursday to address why Wuerl was allocated this increased sum, and what the retired cardinal has used the money for.
