“What really is at play here, dear family, is that other shepherds are offended that I simply state the fact that they have abandoned their sheep in a time of need,” Fr. Altman said. “As you’ve heard me say so many times, if this alleged virus was allegedly a fraction as dangerous as they said it was, all the more reason to keep our churches open and get you the sacraments so you stay in a state of grace.”

MADISON, Wisconsin The state’s attorney general on Tuesday launched a sweeping investigation of the sexual abuse of minors by clergy, but he denied the state is singling out the Catholic Church for scrutiny.
“Our initial outreach was to dioceses and religious orders that are part of the Catholic Church, but we were very intentional in calling this clergy and faith leader abuse that we are focused on,” Attorney General Josh Kaul told reporters at a Wisconsin State Capitol press event.
MADISON - Attorney General Josh Kaul on Tuesday announced an investigation into clergy sexual abuse across Wisconsin, saying the review will help survivors heal and provide greater accountability for perpetrators.
The probe, which USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin first reported Thursday, will be led by the state Department of Justice and focus on abuse allegations against Catholic clergy and other faith leaders many of which date back decades and involve religious officials who are now dead.
Wisconsin is home to five dioceses, including the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and religious orders such as the Norbertines in De Pere. I would like to say to survivors of clergy and faith leader abuse: We hear you. We know how important this is, Kaul said at a news conference outside the state Capitol in Madison.
