The Racers were up a commanding 46-21 over the Cougars, getting ready to head into the locker room with 44 seconds left in the first half, but before they could prepare for the second half of play, an attempt at a rebound changed the atmosphere of the game instantly. With 28 seconds left in the first half, sophomore forward Demond Robinson went up for a rebound and the back of his left leg made contact with another player. The result was what looked like a gruesome injury that could be a serious setback for Robinson and the Racers heading into the last week of the regular season. ....
Williams leads Murray St. past Tennessee St. 73-53 MURRAY, Ky. (AP) KJ Williams had a career-high 25 points plus 16 rebounds as Murray State easily defeated Tennessee State 73-53 on Thursday night. Devin Gilmore had 12 points for Murray State (7-7, 4-5 Ohio Valley Conference). Chico Carter Jr. added 10 points. Tevin Brown had six rebounds. Tennessee State scored 22 points in the first half, a season low for the team. Mark Freeman had 22 points and five steals for the Tigers (3-11, 2-9). Marcus Fitzgerald Jr., who was second on the Tigers in scoring entering the contest with 13 points per game, scored five points. He shot 17% from behind the arc (1 of 6). ....
MURRAY, KY (MURRAY STATE ATHLETICS) KJ Williams scored a career-high 25 points and tied his career-best with 16 rebounds to lead the Racers past Tennessee State 73-53 Behind a monster night from KJ Williams, the Murray State Racers blitzed past the Tennessee State Tigers 73-53 in Thursday night action in the Ohio Valley Conference at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. The Racers evened their overall mark at 7-7 and improved to 4-5 in the OVC on back-to-back wins. MSU ends a four-game home stand at The Bank when Belmont Bruins come to town Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. tip. Williams scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-16 from the field, including 1-of-3 from the 3-point line and he added six free throws in eight tries. His 16 rebounds tied his career-high. Devin Gilmore scored 12 points in 24 minutes off the bench to go with five rebounds. Chico Carter, Jr., hit a pair of threes off the bench for 10 points. ....

The Racers got off to a blazing hot start thanks to a barrage of threes. Junior guard Tevin Brown knocked down a pair to give Murray State an early 6-0 lead, followed up by a pair from junior forward KJ Williams later in the half to take a 17-10 lead. However, the Gamecocks were able to hold the Racers scoreless for nearly three minutes, allowing them to go on an 8-0 run and cut their deficit to 27-24. ....
