International consortium investigates specific cell signaling process across range of human diseases Life in the digital age often throws a curveball when the signalling bars on our mobile phones drop or disappear altogether. Similarly, disruptions in the signalling networks of cells within the body can wreak havoc and lead to disease. An international consortium led by University College Dublin (UCD) has secured EU Horizon 2020 funding valued at €887,800 to investigate a specific cell signalling process seen across a range of human diseases. The CRYSTAL3 consortium includes 10 partners (5 academic and 5 industry) located in 7 countries and will be led by Professor Breandán Kennedy from UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science and UCD Conway Institute. The project begins this month and will focus on commercial and research opportunities of a relatively unexplored inflammation-related signalling pathway. ....
we didn t really have a cloud in the sky and temperatures made it well into the mid- to upper 90s for just about everybody, but lurking back to the west of us this big storm system formerly known isaac, a tropical storm, then became a hurricane, then back to tropical storm. earlier this afternoon it was just a depression, but now it s just basically being called the remnants of isaac. a lot of heavy rain out there, trust me. for this part of the country this is welcome. they just say bring it on because they are so dry out there. droughts of epic proportions are going on now. so this is helping those that are getting the rain. they re wishing for this to come up into iowa, too. it doesn t seem as though it s getting that far north, but it s going to all move our direction. tonight a few clouds, but generally speaking, we re under clear skies. we ll have an increase as we start going through the weekend because it definitely looks like it will be unsettled. showers and s ....
