The asiana passenger jet came had in to land at sfo, it was 11 2 this morning. Witnesses say the plane hit tailfirst just yards short of runway 28l. The plane eventually came to a rest on the grass and dirt on the side of the runway and caught fire. Passengers could be seen jumping down the emergency slides. Most of the 307 people on board made it off okay. There were 291 passengers, and 16 crew members. Two people are confirmed dead. They were both chinese passport holders according to south korean officials. A total of 182 people were taken to air hospitals and 49 of them were seriously hurt and at this hour everyone has been accounted for. Both kids killed are 16 wong lee jau and ying minute weng, who celebrated a birthday 10 days ago. The block boxes are recovered and they are on their way to washington. They inspected the crash site around midnight and are returning to the scene later this morning. From seoul, south korea where asiana is based, there are on their way. It is too early to tell what caused the crash and this morning the chief executive officer said it was not caused by engine failure. 307 people were on the aircraft. 291 passengers and 16 crew members. Two People Killed were chinese girls. One born in 1966 and one in 1997. Chief fire chief joanne hayeswhite talking how 190 people if you can understand when you look at the plane, 190 people were found when the firefighters arrived walking off that plane. So, much belter numbers than we could have seen. This could have been a much worse situation. Initially, now we are hearing 132 people transported to hospitals.
