Ever, i dull into nate than ever i sort of began realizing i was going to be gay. Theres no verb about it at this time it was only a noun or an adjective. So the response i get from people now and i think its one of the exciting things about writing for young people is when you write for young people, you dont just write for them you write more their parents and aunts and booksellers and librarians. And so what i hear just like you said, ellen is people who write to say im a 70yearold gay man, and if i had had this book when i was in middle school, i wouldnt have maybe have been in the close earth for the clottest for the or 12yearold boys who say im the only boy in my dance class in utah and it was so cool to read a character like nate. Whatever that boys going to grow up to become, i dont know but its exciting to know that there are voices on the shelves that are being published, by the way, so many publishers that are doing this.
