Preparations Continue for Possible COVID-19 Vaccines for Ages 12-15

A federal advisory committee is expected to recommend the use of the Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15. Pfizer has already been in use for ages 16 and older.
“We are monitoring what is going on with the FDA,” said Michael Potts, MedStar risk and safety manager.
MedStar has held vaccine clinics since they were made available and are prepared to help with the increased vaccines when needed.
“Because of our flexibility, we can administer the Pfizer to the pediatric or adolescent population and also use the Moderna that we have, which we have plenty, and do their parents,” Potts said. “So, we can do a two for one and take care of an entire family if they show up.” ....

County health departments have launched waitlists for adults 16 years old and over.
You can register to recieve the vaccination in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. Links are below:
You do not need to be a resident of the county to register for a COVID-19 vaccine in that county registration is open to anyone in Texas. For those without internet access, Tarrant County is also taking registrations by phone at 817-248-6299. In Dallas County, call the DCHHS vaccine hotline at 1-855-IMMUNE9 (1-855-466-8639). In Denton County, call 940-349-2585.

“We’ll have all 19 of our lanes open once it is available and we will be able to get thousands and thousands of kids every day and we will have other sites as well,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said. “You may see different districts hosting things or cities hosting things at their convention center or whatever for the schools.”
Jenkins said they are also working on plans to help parents who can’t be there in person with their child.
“We have a program that where if someone else brings you… like the school brings you to a vaccine site… they can bring a form that we are working on that is signed by your mom or dad so that you can get your vaccine,” Jenkins explained. ....

Several Large North Texas COVID-19 Vaccine Hubs Prepare to Consolidate, Close

Denton County will soon move away from the use of Texas Motor Speedway for vaccination purposes.
“DCPH will be transitioning away from the mass vaccination clinics at TMS mid-May due to the completion of the current waitlist,” a Denton County representative said. “We are still working on future plans, as we have many second doses that will still be completed at TMS, but we hope to have more information on those future clinic plans soon.”
In Dallas County, while the largest vaccine site at Dallas Fair Park has no plans of closing anytime soon, changes are coming to the Parkland Hospital run sites at Ellis Davis Field House and Dallas College – Eastfield Campus. ....
