A search is underway in west allis for a suspect who shot a customer inside a cell phone store. It happened at the Cricket Wireless store at highway 100 and national. West allis police tell us one person was taken to the hospital by ambulance and that the victim was shot during a robbery. Officers descended on the store but the suspect got away. We saw the police around here and i think it was most alarming that we saw cops from all different areas. Like we saw cops from new berlin and west allis Police Report multiple Police Departments are helping in the search for the suspect. The person who was shot is expected to survive. A falling piece of concrete from the inside of the tunnelliz says it was a terrifying experience. Liz gustin a big piece of concrete just fell directly right in front of my car. Luckily it didnt land on the car but about one or two car lengthsjust crashed into the ground. So, i swerved just a little to the left. Jeff but, that wasnt enoughliz side swiped the concrete with her carpopping her tire and destroying it. Luckily, liz is ok but the accident prompted cal trans to conduct a more detailed inspection of the tunnel and found a dozen spots where the concrete was weak. Crews did spot repairs which consisted of digging out the weakened concrete and replacing those spots with fresh materialbut, that only addresses the symptoms of the problemnot the overlying cause that is making the concrete weakcal trans says more inspection needs to be done.
