GREENSBORO, N.C. A 3-pointer from Weronika Hipp was off the mark as the final buzzer sounded, and Clemson came up short to Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on Friday. After Destiny Thomas tallied a clutch steal with 16 seconds remaining, the Tigers had an opportunity to tie the Yellow Jackets on the final possession, but Clemson ultimately fell 60-57 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Tigers (11-13) shot 40.7 percent from the floor, and the Yellow Jackets (15-7) accrued a field goal percentage of 46.3. Clemson made three shots from beyond the arc and corralled 32 rebounds, while Georgia Tech was successful on seven 3-point attempts and secured 34 boards. Defensively, the Tigers forced 15 turnovers, thanks in large part to their 12 steals. Also of note, Clemson scored 30 points in the paint and outscored Georgia Tech 12-0 in bench points.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Putting in work on and off the court, Clemson women’s basketball student-athletes Kendall Spray, Amari Robinson, and Delicia Washington have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced the league office on Wednesday. Student-athletes must have earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average from the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 grade point average during their academic career in order to be eligible for the All-ACC Academic Team. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team. Washington was named Second Team All-ACC, while Spray and Robinson have started every game for the Tigers this season.
Washington, Elliott Earn All-ACC Honors
CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson senior Delicia Washington and freshman Gabby Elliott each earned All-ACC honors, it was announced today by the league office. Washington was named second-team All-ACC by both the league’s head coaches and Blue Ribbon Panel, while Elliott was named to the All-Freshman team by both groups.
Washington is Clemson’s first All-ACC selection since Kobi Thornton in 2019 (second team) and just the fourth in the last 17 seasons. Washington leads the Tigers in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg) and assists (3.4 apg) and is the only player in the conference to lead her team in all three categories. Washington surpassed the 1,000 career point mark earlier this season, and has scored in double-figures in every game since coming back from an ankle injury in mid-December.
