Clemson Falls at Miami
CORAL GABLES, Fla. Clemson fell to Miami at the Watsco Center on Sunday, with the Hurricanes leading for the majority of the game and defeating the Tigers. Gabby Elliott and Delicia Washington scored in double figures for Clemson, but Miami won by a final tally of 80-71.
Clemson (8-2, 3-2) shot 42.6 from the floor, and Miami (5-3, 2-3) registered a field goal percentage of 46.5. The Tigers made 18 free throws, and the Hurricanes knocked down six 3-pointers. The Hurricanes won the rebounding battle 45-32 and scored 44 points in the paint. Also of note, Clemson forced 17 turnovers, scored 16 fast break points and tabbed 14 assists.
Clemson Earns First-Ever Home Victory Over Notre Dame
CLEMSON, S.C. Closing out the 2020 portion of their schedule rather emphatically, the Tigers routed the Fighting Irish on Sunday. Clemson produced four double-digit scorers in the 78-55 victory at Littlejohn Coliseum. Led by Gabby Elliott and her game-high 17 points, the Tigers defeated the Fighting Irish at home for the first time in program history.
Rebounding was integral to Clemson’s (8-1, 3-1) success on the afternoon, as the Tigers won the rebounding battle 50-36 and gave up just nine offensive boards to Notre Dame (3-4, 1-2). The Tigers shot 40.6 percent from the floor, while the Fighting Irish accrued a field goal percentage of 36.8. Clemson connected on 16 free throws and six 3-pointers and tallied 13 assists. Furthermore, the Tigers forced 17 turnovers and recorded 32 points in the paint and 27 points off the bench.
Clemson Outlasts Florida State in Nail-Biter
CLEMSON, S.C. Hanging on for an impressive win over Florida State, the Clemson Tigers outlasted the Seminoles on Thursday. In the final minute, with the game all even at 69 points apiece, Clemson used a few trips to the free throw line and clutch defense to come away with a hard-fought 72-69 victory at Littlejohn Coliseum.
In addition to shooting 45.0 percent from the floor, Clemson (7-1, 2-1) connected on six shots from beyond the arc. Florida State (2-1, 1-1) finished with a field goal percentage of 35.8 and made 17-of-19 free throws. The Tigers scored 14 points off 21 Seminole turnovers and corralled 38 rebounds. Florida State collected 41 rebounds and scored 36 points in the paint. Clemson tallied 36 points in the paint, as well, and also scored 19 points off the bench and 15 points out of the fast break.
